1998 – 1999. Faroese Business School, Kambsdalur, Faroe Islands, English teacher. Teaching all three levels (A, B, and C). In addition to conventional language teaching, the job required the teacher to supervise students’ use of the Internet, email etc. At the Faroese Business School students at the highest levels (A and B) have their own laptop computer, which facilitates extensive use of technology as an integral part of the language teaching.

2003. When applying for a position as Assistant Professor (”adjunkt”) at the Department of Informatics, SDU, Kolding, Denmark (Job ID 036603), “a unanimous board” considered me to posses “a considerable research potential” and “scientific qualifications equal to the PhD degree” and I was therefore “qualified for the position at the level of Assistant Professor.”

 

2001. Admitted into the PhD programme at the Faculty of Divinity, University of Cambridge. Supervisor: George Pattison. Project: “Shakespeare’s Role in the Making of Existentialism: Shakespeare’s Influence on Kierkegaard.” I had to relinquish my place in the programme before the beginning of term due to inadequate funding.
